Biomass Bulk Rail Transportation
California Class 1 railroads are the Union Pacific (UP) and Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railways. Regional Rail is also available through Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (which acquired RailAmerica): California Northern Railroad (CFNR) and San Joaquin Valley Railroad (SJVR). Montana, northern Idaho and western Washington are served by BNSF.
Class 1 rail lines link feedstock basins throughout the U.S.A. so export and bulk shipping can occur to the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic or Pacific Oceans. Rail lines also service the Coal Energy Sector, allowing for cofiring and coal replacement with biomass. Feel free to contact us about railroad mapping solutions or any questions concerning our rail data.
Short Sea Shipping Biomass
Short Sea Shipping opportunities to the mouth of the Mississippi River can utilize the back haul of barges, bringing biomass to the coal fired power plants deep within coal country. Western Canada biomass uses maritime transportation. Our biomass supply chain will allow additional feedstocks to be developed and come to market. Utilities will be able to meet their renewable percentages, giving new technologies for energy and renewable fuels time to develop.
